Vehicle Spotlight: Nissan 240sx – S13 & S14
Nissan has a strong heritage, one that is deeply rooted with drifting. Time after time the Nissan 240sx is ranked highest as the best car overall to drift in. Not only is the 240sx rear wheel drive which is a must for drifting but the platform has perfect balance (nearly 50/50). They are also incredibly inexpensive which really makes it a popular platform for drivers looking for an additional car as a drift only vehicle. To add, the 240sx is also extremely light, has independent rear suspension, and the stock power plant is more than sufficient for drifting.
Nissan S13 (1989-1993) Comments
- Slightly less balanced than the S14
- Lighter
Nissan S14 (1994-1998) Comments
- More evenly Balanced
- Heavier than S13
- More Power
- Better Chassis
Overall other than the notes provided above, the S13 and S14 are very similar. The S14 is a bit more bulky but more powerful. The balance is slightly better in the S14, but overall they are quite similar. Even the aftermarket is nearly identical for both platforms. Our best recommendation is to go with the platform you think looks best! If you are looking to upgrade your S13 coilovers, our Nissan S13 coilovers are always a great affordable option as well as our Nissan S14 coilovers
